FAQ

  • Are Bengals a wild breed?

Bengals have the exotic look of a wild leopard, but they’re 100% domesticated. Their ancestry includes the Asian leopard cat, but modern Bengals are bred to be loving, social house pets—no jungle instincts here!

  • Are Bengals couch potatoes or high-energy cats?

Think of Bengals as the athletes of the cat world. They love climbing, chasing, and playing—sometimes at 3 AM! They do enjoy snuggles, but don’t expect them to laze around all day.

  • Are Bengal cats good family pets?

Absolutely! Bengals bond strongly with their humans, including children, and often get along well with other pets. Their playful, curious nature makes them great companions—just be ready for lots of interaction!

  • Do Bengals need special food or vet care?

Not at all! Like any active cat, they thrive on a high-protein diet and regular vet check-ups—no exotic care needed, just plenty of love and attention. For optimal health, we recommend choosing a food with a high-quality protein source as the first ingredient. This is a simple way to ensure good nutrition, no matter the brand or price.

  • How long do Bengal cats live?

With good care, Bengals typically live 12-16+ years, just like other healthy domestic cats. Some even reach their late teens!

  • Can you train a Bengal cat?

Bengals are scary smart—many learn tricks like fetch, leash walking, and even opening doors! Puzzle toys and clicker training keep their brains engaged.

  • Do fixed Bengals still spray?

It’s rare, but possible—just like any cat. Proper litter training and a stress-free home usually prevent it.

  • Is it true Bengals like water?

Many do! Some will paw at faucets, join you in the shower, or "fish" toys out of their water bowl. Not all are water lovers, but it’s a fun Bengal quirk.

  • Should I let my Bengal outside?

Indoors only (unless leash-trained)! Their curiosity and beauty make them targets for theft or accidents. A catio or harness walks are safer ways to explore.

  • Are both the mother and father genetically tested?

The father of our Bengal kittens has been genetically tested for breed-relevant conditions (PK-Def, PRA-b, and HCM), while the mother has not undergone genetic testing. However, she is in excellent health with no signs of hereditary issues.

While genetic testing can provide useful insights, it is not the sole indicator of a cat’s long-term health. Many factors—including environment, diet, and routine veterinary care—play a far greater role in a kitten’s well-being.

That said, we fully support responsible ownership and encourage all new kitten parents to schedule a vet check-up shortly after bringing their kitten home. This ensures peace of mind and establishes a proactive health plan.

  • Is your cattery registered with TICA or another association?

We are not currently a registered cattery with TICA (The International Cat Association). This is primarily because TICA does not yet recognize the red Bengal color—a stunning variation we specialize in. Once TICA updates its breed standards to include red Bengals, we plan to pursue formal registration.

    Why does this matter?

Registration isn’t the sole marker of quality; our focus is on breeding healthy, well-socialized kittens with exceptional temperaments and striking appearances.

Even without registration, our breeding practices adhere to high ethical standards.

  • What makes your Bengals special?

Beyond their striking red coats (even if not yet TICA-recognized), our Bengals are:

Raised in a home environment, ensuring they’re socialized, confident, and accustomed to household activity.

Bred for temperament—playful, intelligent, and affectionate companions.

Selected for health and beauty, with attention to bold markings, glitter, and muscular structure.
